    Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City – $20 million in capital improvements

    Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City announced the resort will reinvest a minimum of $20 million in capital improvements including suite renovations, the opening of a new Starbucks, additional slots and table games, a new dining outlet and a refresh of beachfront amenities.

    The majority of the investment will go towards renovating 66 Celebrity and 25 Roxy suites. The 91 total suite renovations are being designed by Klai Juba Wald Architecture + Interiors. Additionally, all standard hotel rooms have been improved with new flatscreen television monitors and LED lighting. The upgraded suites and rooms provide an attractive luxury escape for tourists visiting Atlantic City.

    The new Starbucks is scheduled to open late May and is located with Boardwalk access adjacent to the Hard Rock Cafe, expanding and elevating customer amenities. Additionally, the resort will unveil a new dining outlet to be announced soon and opening this summer.

    Additional gaming units will be created in the Asian and High Limit areas as a positive response to the demand generated from seven consecutive months of gaming revenue growth. The main casino floor and cage areas will also be expanded with added table games and slot machines.

    The oceanfront resort will also upgrade their beachfront amenities to reflect the hard work of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers beach replenishment projects that took place this year. Upgrades will be made to the Hard Rock Beach Bar including new restrooms and more than 1,000 beach chairs.

    With headliner entertainment returning, market leading programming and sound enhancements are being made to both Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena and Sound Waves. Other improvements will be made to the resort’s meeting and convention space and the indoor pool.

  • Increasingly Favorable Conditions Spur Online Gambling Growth

    The number of states which are launching online betting businesses continues to grow as the legal infrastructure and public opinion have turned in favor of such services. For example, according to a report by Hartford Courant, a rewrite of gambling law in Connecticut, agreed to by Gov. Ned Lamont and the two tribal casinos, passed its first test in the General Assembly. The increasingly friendly attitude towards such services can be explained by their high demand and potential for tax revenue. For instance, online gambling and online sports betting brought in USD 42.7 Million in gross receipts during the first 10 days of legal play in Michigan, state regulators recently announced.

    To illustrate just how popular online sports betting is in states where the market can already operate, a report by the Chicago Sun-Times indicates that New Jersey gamblers set a nationwide record for the most money bet on sports in a single month, spending almost USD 668 Million in August on events including the resurgent baseball, basketball and hockey seasons that had been interrupted by the outbreak.

    Penn National Gaming, Inc. announced that it has established Penn Game Studios (“PGS”), an in-house content development team focused on creating exclusive iCasino content for its customers.     Jackpocket, the first and only licensed third-party lottery app in the U.S. to provide a secure way to order official state lottery tickets, today announced their app’s launch on Google Play Store in the state of New York. With this launch, Jackpocket is the only third-party app approved by state lotteries available on both Google Play and the Apple App Store.

    Key Transaction Terms

    The combined company intends to apply to list its shares on the New York Stock Exchange (“NYSE”) under the new ticker symbol “SGHC”. Upon closing of the transaction, the combined company will operate under the name Super Group.

    SEAH has agreed to combine with Super Group based on a $4.75 billion pre-money equity valuation. Assuming no redemptions by SEAH’s shareholders: (i) the transaction will deliver approximately $450 million of cash (currently held in trust) to the combined company; (ii) Super Group’s existing shareholders will hold approximately 88% of the shares in the combined company on closing; and (iii) the group will have approximately $200 million in cash on its balance sheet on closing.

    Shareholders comprising more than 70% of Super Group’s equity will not be selling any shares and will roll their entire equity positions into the public company. The boards of directors of Super Group and SEAH have unanimously approved this transaction.

    The transaction requires the approval of shareholders of SEAH, is subject to other customary closing conditions and is expected to close in the second half of 2021.

    Caesars Entertainment, Inc. announced that it has completed its acquisition of William Hill PLC for approximately $4.0 billion. The transaction gives Caesars ownership of one of the world’s leading betting and gambling companies and gives the Company the ability to maximize the opportunity within sports betting and online gaming in the U.S.

    “We are thrilled to complete the acquisition of William Hill, combining two of the premier operations in the sports betting and iGaming industries under one roof,” said Tom Reeg, CEO of Caesars Entertainment. “We look forward to announcing future sports partnerships that will drive long-term growth.”

    The combined companies currently operate sports betting in 18 jurisdictions in the U.S., an industry-leading 13 of which offer mobile sports betting. The Company expects to be operational in 20 U.S. jurisdictions by the end of 2021.

    The transaction further expands the reach of Caesars Rewards by providing William Hill members access to the Company’s industry-leading loyalty program, including the ability to earn tier status that can be used at all of the Company’s land-based and online properties. This combination also enables the Company to further enhance its services to customers by providing a single-wallet offering of sports betting and online gaming products across the enterprise in the future.

    As previously disclosed, Caesars intends to sell the non-U.S. businesses currently owned by William Hill, including the U.K. and international online divisions and the retail betting shops.

    Caesars Entertainment, Inc. shared exciting details on its $400 million master plan investment in Atlantic City where it owns and operates three of the region’s preeminent casino destinations – Caesars, Harrah’s Resort and Tropicana Atlantic City. The plans include remodeled room towers; freshly appointed interior design elements; enhancements to the casinos’ gaming floors; new dining concepts with acclaimed restaurant partners; and many more exciting additions within the next three years.     $170 million room remodel inspired by Atlantic City’s beach and bay:

    This summer, Caesars Entertainment will unveil $170 million in room enhancements designed by Interior Image Group at Caesars and Harrah’s Resort, beginning with approximately 600 guest rooms and suites in Caesars’ Centurion and Ocean Towers, as well as Harrah’s Atrium Tower. The towers will offer accommodations with spectacular views and fresh design elements in rooms ranging from 450 to 700 square feet per room.

    At Caesars, the designs will feature a modern Roman aesthetic, drawing inspiration from the local Atlantic City scenery, including the beach, ocean and famed Boardwalk.     Online casino and poker revenue hit $95.1 million in revenue in March, up from $79.7 million February.

    Michigan’s online casinos and poker rooms won $3.1 million per day in March. That total yielded adjusted gross receipts of $88.7 million$12.8 million in tax revenue for the state, and $4.5 million in local taxes. BetMGM/MGM Grand Detroit led the market again with $30.8 million in gross receipts.

    Michigan’s online casinos have been nothing short of a huge success,” Gouker of PlayMichigan said. “The state’s online casinos launched with more robust game libraries than in Pennsylvania, so residents had no reason to hold out and wait for games such as blackjack. The agreement marks the first time an online gaming operator in the United States will utilize the industry-leading program.

    Developed by the BCLC, GameSense is an award-winning program that incorporates responsible gaming resources and education into the customer service model – providing every player with tools and support to make informed decisions and play responsibly. It also connects players with trained specialists, known as GameSense Advisors, and focuses on positive, transparent, and proactive communication to educate players about healthy habits and how to keep gaming fun, safe and responsible.

    MGM Resorts first launched GameSense at its U.S. properties in 2017, making available educational resources and interactive GameSense touchscreens at its M life Rewards desks. The company has received multiple awards from the National Council on Problem Gambling recognizing its GameSense initiatives. The integration of GameSense within BetMGM is an extension of the BCLC’s longstanding relationship with MGM Resorts.

    Ocean Casino Resort doubles down on recent success with a reinvestment of $15 million into the resort, team members, and surrounding North Beach community.

In support of the Covenant House of New Jersey’s mission to provide shelter for young adults facing homelessness and human trafficking, Ocean will donate sleep and travel essentials. Furthermore, Ocean will invest in The Boys & Girls Club’s summer camp STEAM Labs where Atlantic City youth may practice digital arts, conduct scientific experiments, and learn to code.

    PokerGo® Multi-Year Television Agreement With CBS Sports

    CBS Sports today announced a new multi-year rights agreement with PokerGO as its new television partner for the World Series of Poker Main Event and select WSOP Bracelet Events.

    Beginning in 2021, CBS Sports Network will be the exclusive domestic television home of the WSOP, featuring 15 hours of Main Event coverage and 36 hours of 18 additional Gold Bracelet events, easily marking a new high for the historic poker festival.

    CBS Sports and the WSOP rekindle a past partnership with this deal.  It was CBS Sports who first broadcast poker in the U.S. and the WSOP Main Event on its CBS SPORTS SPECTACULAR program throughout the mid-1970s.
