Why Roulette Isn’t Exclusive to the Rich and Famous

It sucks not being rich and famous.

And not just for monetary reasons either, it’s also because certain things in life seem to be exclusive to those with deep pockets and a swarm of paparazzi.

Rich and famous people can get into exclusive golf resorts where they can tee off. Meanwhile us regular folk would be lucky enough to find a job at the place.

Rich people get into night clubs immediately while we all wait in the “V.I.P.” line for an hour and a half.

Fortunately, what was once an exclusive casino game for the wealthy – is now open to all: Roulette.

The game that used to be exclusive to French royalty is presently a game that everyone can play..

The game has everything that represents to class and prestige us whale watchers look for: a dignified croupier to spin the wheel, a classy table to take our bets, and odds that pay big if you bet big.

So how does it work? Here are the basics: American Roulette consists of a wheel with 38 stops and a ball that can land with equal chance on any of the 38 stops (37 for European Roulette). The stops are numbered in non-sequential order zero, double-zero and then 1-36. There’s only one zero in European Roulette.

The stops 1-36 are colored either black or red and the “0” and “00” stop is colored green. You can bet on where the ball will land on the wheel by placing chips on the Roulette table. Winnings are paid on a multiplier of the bet.

Also, some European Roulette tables have what’s called the “En Prison” rule – which is French for “in prison”. Basically, if a spin hits zero on any even money bets (like wagers in the 1-18 box), the player can either take back half their bet or leave the bet “en prison” for another spin. Keep in mind that if you do take another spin, you get nothing if it hits zero again. There is one more rule some European tables apply called the “La Partage” rule. This is similar to the “En Prison rule” only you get no shot at a second spin.

Whether you’re playing American or European Roulette you and your friends now have access to the Mr. Chow’s of the casino world, so why hold back?
